FAQ
Pontoon questions
What people ask before a day on the water.
Do I need a boating licence to rent a pontoon?
The driver needs proof of competency, such as a Pleasure Craft Operator Card, or the operator can complete a Transport Canada rental boat safety checklist with you at pickup. Bring photo ID.
Do I need a licence for a captained cruise?
No. On winery and celebration cruises one of our captains drives, so your whole group can relax.
Can we bring drinks on the pontoon?
Bring water, pop and snacks. BC law doesn't allow drinking alcohol on a boat like ours, so on winery cruises the tasting happens ashore at the winery.
How do winery cruises work?
We drive your group by pontoon from Paddlewheel Park to the Lake Country waterfront. You book your winery visits or tour separately, and we can suggest local tour companies. We bring you back by boat at the end, or you can make your own way home.
How do I book a self-drive pontoon?
Pontoon rentals book through our main booking system at Coldstream Water Sports. Pick your lake, date and boat, and pay a booking deposit to hold it.
What happened to the boat club memberships?
They've been replaced by the Lake Pass: buy boat-time credit before the season and we add bonus value, good on any boat on either lake.
What if the weather is bad?
If wind or weather makes it unsafe, we'll help you move your day. See the booking terms for the details.
